Mark Hansson '81 graduated from Dartmouth in three years with Distinction in Film Studies and was one of the first graduates in the newly formed major. He did his MFA in Film Production at UCLA Film School, while starting in the 20th Century Fox Mailroom after college. He was accepted to the Directors' Guild of America Training Program, from which he graduated as a DGA Second Assistant Director. He has continued to work in the Hollywood film and television production industry for over 25 years, with credits on dozens of feature films and television shows, as a Second A.D., then First A.D. and now as a Producer in the Producers' Guild of America. He has 5 DGA Award nominations for his work - 3 in Drama (HBO's "Six Feet Under"), 1 in Comedy (HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm") and 1 in Children's Programming (Disney Channel's "Tiger Cruise"). Recent credits include the feature films "High School Musical 3", "The Comebacks", "Dreamgirls", "The Prince and Me 2", "Peaceful Warrior" and the TV shows "Heroes", "Weeds", "Tell Me You Love Me", "Fat Actress" and Kathy Griffin's comedy specials for Bravo in '05, '06 and '07. He also enjoys teaching film studies, mentoring new DGA Trainees and serving on the DGA Unit Production Manager/Assistant Director Council and seven committees, including co-chairing the DGA 1st AD Committee, representing hundreds of DGA 1st Assistant Directors.
